In
our policy you can find some extra information about our cats & their
offspring,
as well as what includes our requirement if someone wants to buy kitten
from us... and it also include a large part of the contents of our contract.
It is obvious that we want a loving home for our kittens, but there are
still a few other things that are important when someone wants to buy a kitten
from us. For this reason it is certainly interesting to read this page as well...
* All our kittens have tested parents; we only breed litters with
negative tested animals! Because the health of our adult cats & their
offspring is our priority, and every combination of the parents is well
considered, a good and suitable combination is important, so the pedigrees are
carefully compared, to avoid inbreed and other things. The parents of our
kittens have been tested on HCM (hereditary heart deviation), PKD (hereditary
kidney deviation), FIV (aids), & FeLV (leukaemia)...
and
our Ragdolls our also tested on CIN (fading kidneys)...
All these sicknesses and deviations are incurable and have always deadly
result.
* The kittens can leave their mother from the age of 13 weeks.
They have been vaccinated 2 times, and have got several have
worm-treatments. (they are free of parasites).
They are also already completely “toilet-trained” by that time.
Before they move out, they get a complete health control from the doctors
of the animal clinic in the Netherlands where we cooperate with. And moreover
they get a complete kitten-package... This package includes; photographs as from
the birth up to the 13th week of age, toys, pet passport, information,
a litter blanket, a fodder package with the fodder they usually eat, and a
little gift of the cattery...
* Our kittens have always a standard
price...
Frequently it still happens that someone will offer on our kittens, or
that someone insists to sell a kitten for a cheaper price, that has no sense.
If we sell a kitten cheaper for any certain reason, then this will be
always mentioned, and that reason will be always told.
Further we use the usual (generally average-) price of the race.
The prices can vary, because the price dependents of the quality of the
kitten; pet, show -/breed quality, (sometimes also the colour or pattern).
According to the quality of the kitten, it will get an adapted contract
at departure to his new home.
* Our kittens can be visited as from the third week of age, because they
are during the first life weeks still very subject for bacteria (and other
things like that) from outside, and we do not take unnecessary dangers. When someone is interested, he has the
possibility to take an option on the kitten, this costs nothing but this person
will have certainty that this kitten will not be sold in this period... the
option on this kitten will last until the 3rd week of age, as from the 3rd week
of age they can come to visit the kitten, and decide if they want to reserve.
We work with an advance payment for
reservation.
If they don’t reserve the kitten, the kitten will be available again as
from that moment.
! It is possible to visit the kittens without any engagement !
Interested
people, and/or persons who already had reserved a kitten in
advance (= persons from the guard list), can follow the development during that
first 3 weeks by e-mail and photographs.
* People can also take an option, when an available kitten is already
older as 3 weeks, the one who has taken an option will have also some time to
decide if he/she wants to reserve the kitten... (the duration of this period is
mutually agreed). During that period they can come to visit the kitten.
* We don’t sell kittens on Internet, people can contact us by email for
taking an option, but it is desirable that the interested person comes to visit
the kitten before they reserve it.
For people (breeders) who live further as Belgium and the Netherlands, we
sometimes make an exception, because we understand that it is not possible to
visit the kitten which they are interested in.
* We bring our kittens personally to their new homes, unless this isn’t
possible for us...
in that case this will be discussed
in advance, so the new owner can come to pick up the kitten themselves.
* We don’t export any kittens to the foreign country without
supervision!
If a kitten moves to the foreign country, the new owner have to pick up
the kitten personally when it is not possible for us to bring this kitten to his
new home.
* If someone didn't inform us that they cannot pick up kitten on the
agreed day than the sale will not continue. In that case the advance is not paid
back, and
from that moment the kitten will be available again.
* The breeder preserves always the right to refuse a kitten to someone,
if he/she thinks that this person can not offer the kitten a suitable home. This
is only in the interest of the kittens themselves.
* We give the persons who have reserved one of our kittens the
possibility to visit their future kitten regularly... so they both can learn to
know each other. It is absolute not
required to visit the kitten from time to time, but there is the possibility for
it.
Furthermore we let the future owners regularly know the developments of
their future kitten, this happen by e-mail and photographs.
* If someone wants to buy kitten from us, then they have to know that our
kittens can not become "street
cats", by that we mean that our kittens cannot go outside... unless there
is a safe/suitable cat-place present with the possibility for the cat to go
inside, or if it is possible for the kitten to go outside on a cat-harness and
under supervision, then it is absolutely
no problem for us that the cat goes outside from time to time.
A
third possibility is an entirely concluded garden, where escaping isn’t
impossible.
This is for the security of the cat, and because race cats are frequently
taken along or stolen by strangers... moreover some races are so affectionate
& friendly, that they even walk along themselves with strangers.
* Kittens which are bought from us have to be able to function normally,
and they must have a sufficient space to walk around free. They can absolutely
never be locked up in a cage or barn !
(knowing that these races are real family pets,
this is completely obvious.)
When someone does not want that the cat has the whole house when no one
is present, it is a possibility to give the cat a restriction to a certain space
(for example the kitchen or living room), and this space have to provide the cat with all needs (fresh
drinking water, fodder, cat box, toys, etc).
When someone works full-time, it is judicious to give the cat no stress
by locking her up in a small provide space, because after a while that will be
in the disadvantage of the cat and in your own disadvantage.
Think; the satisfaction of your cat depends mainly on yourself !
* If
the new owner will move to another address, then he/she must inform the breeder
of the new address. This also applies to a new e-mail address.
* Moreover the kitten must get the necessary attention and care; he/she
cannot be neglected.
Before you buy a kitten you must consider well which race is appropriate
for you, and where your preference does go out to, not only with regard to the
external, but also with regard to things like the character.
If you are interested in a certain race, be sure that you can satisfy the
needs which this cat has, because some races need a more intense fleece care as
other races, some races are more
aimed at people and need more attention as other races, etc...
Do not impulsive decide that you want to buy a kitten... because they are
indeed very sweet, but that cute kitten-period is however of short duration...
and then once they are adult,
some people suddenly do not like them anymore... people
must be aware that a cat can become 18-20 years old (we know
persons with cats of 22-26 years!), so think firstly really well if your cat
will become a full family member, and if you want to take the responsibility to
ensure the cat of all the care which will be necessary for such a long time.
* However there are always exceptional reasons why the cat can no longer
remain at his current family -- in that case is the breeder the first person
who have to be informed by the owner -- because the cat can not be
sold or giving away to third parties without letting the breeder know.
We do not want that our former kittens will spread suddenly everywhere at
new owners, without informing us about it.
The possibility exists that we incorporate the kitten/the cat again in
our family, and when this would be not possible for us, we will offer the owner
our help to find a good and suitable home for this pet.
These new owners also must give their address and e-mail address (or
telephone number) to us, and they will get an adapted contract.
(when the new owners pick up their kitten they cannot give it away
or sell the kitten to third
parties!)
* It is important to know that cats also have other needs,
such as climb -/play possibilities, and sufficient
toys.
A cat
must have enough diversion and occupation, otherwise they will annoy themselves
(or lament when nobody is at home).
When
cats have enough game possibility and also possibilities of climbing, they will
not demolish your furniture.
* A cat better have a playmate... for a race cat this does not
necessarily have to be another race cat, or a cat of the same race, it can be
any cat.
Especially cats which daily are a lot of hours alone in the house,
are better not entirely alone. Most cats love the presence of a playmate.
These cats will behave more relax; they will not annoy themselves, and won’t
feel lonely when they are alone at home.
Naturally they always have to get used to each other in the beginning --
unless they are littermates-- but this is only temporary...
Having a 2nd cat is only a suggestion, but certainly none
require!
* It is important to teach your kitten what he/she is allowed to do and
the things which are not allowed. A
well raised cat, will be a sociable pet !
(and that will save the owners possible
frustrations)
* People
who have bought a kitten with pet quality are not allowed to breed with this cat!
The contract will mention that these kittens must be neutered (castrated) on the
declared age. The breeder wants to receive a veterinary surgeon paper of the
intervention. And when the breeder has received it, the pedigree will be sent.
The new owner will receive a note on the day of the transfer of the kitten,
which will mention that the pedigree will be sent after the castration.
* If
a kitten were sold for breeding, then the pedigree is given at transfer of
kitten -- if the breeder already has it! When the breeder has the pedigree not
yet at that moment, he will give the new owner a paper of it. As soon as the
breeder received the pedigree, he will be sending it immediately to the new
owner.
à
The new owner can breed on following justified manner with the cat,
this
means;
- that a female has to be minimum 1 year old before she get her first
litter,
- and she can get maximum 3 litters in 2 years time.
- she can ONLY be mated by a male of an allowed race (with pedigree).
- that no boys from her first litter will be sold for
breeding,
- and there only 2 girls of each litter can be sold for breeding.
The other kittens will be
sold as pet and/or show cat, with obligation to castration.
- the owner will let the cat castrate (neuter) if it is no longer
desirable for the animal to have kittens.
- for each descendant of this cat a pedigree will be requested at a
general cat association.
*
Medical;
Know that an animal is no piece of furniture, but a living being, and
that it is possible that she/he ever will need necessary medical aid (just like
yourself, your partner or your child)... a reason for that can be old age, but
they can also become ill (cold, diarrhoea, allergy, etc...).
Make sure that you are in the possibility to offer your cat this aid in
case it would be necessary; think about that very well before you buy a kitten/cat.
à
If the cat would be ever found (possibly by third parties) neglected, maltreated,
or in bad state of health during an unreasonable period (without medical
mediation), then the breeder have the right to return to obtain the cat,
in this case the owner will give the cat UNCONDITIONALLY back. This
applies to the whole life span of the cat.
Under "neglected" or "maltreated" we mean (but not
limited to this enumeration);
- Superfluous surgical interventions, such as; declawing,... (this has
been prohibited legally!)
- lock the cat up in a cage or barn
- not consulting a vet or refuse to give the cat the treatment if there
is a health problem
- not consulting a veterinary surgeon when the cat refuse to eat and/or
drink for a period of 2 days
- other bad conditions, such as a seriously neglected fleece (not
treating abnormal outburst as; bald spots, skin allergy, wounds, as well as not
treating internal and external parasites, etc…
- not treating
infections,
- taking no measures preventing certain infections
- also neglecting the annual vaccinations, and health
control.
* Our kittens all get a
guarantee!
Moreover they all get a contract, with the contents of this policy.
However in some cases the contract can deviate a bit, in that case the
interested person (possible purchaser) will previously be informed of it.
The
contract will be read in advance by the possible purchaser, so that there
afterwards no misunderstandings arise, and both the breeder and the new owner
know what they can expect of each other.
* The contract also mention that the breeder confirm that the kitten is
in good state of health at moment of transfer, after the kitten has got a last
check-up in the animal clinic which the breeder cooperate with. Possible points of interest where the breeder
is aware of are in advance communicated!
The contract is always signed by the breeder and the new owner. A
contract is binding, and both parties must always keep to the contract.
Additional information on ignoring the contract will be mentioned in the
contract.
This policy/contract seems much... but there are more breeders which
mention these things in their contract. As a matter of fact all this things are
usual to people who want the best for their pet.
We spend much care & time on our
kittens,
and of course we want that they are well treated by
their new owners -- so that they have a wonderful life at their new homes.
If someone finds that a cat is "only" a cat, and does not find it necessary to give sufficient attention and care, don’t buy a cat then... the purchase of a fish is cheaper, and a fish need a lot less attention ;)
